The 96th Running of the Indianapolis 500

It was nice taking my best friend to his first Indianapolis 500. I put him is a very good suite along the main straightaway. The atmosphere before the race was outstanding. The excitement of all the action before the race, and the people he met he will never forget the power of long standing traditions that span the whole start of the race. The pace laps; to the green flag dropping and this big galoute of a friend could not express his excitement and started to cry, all 285 pounds of his self. As my friend leaned over as the first lap came swooshing by and said, “Jim, I have waited my whole life to see that.” I stood there and almost started to cry with him. Yes this year’s Indy 500 was the best, I have seen in a long time. From Ed Carpenter (Our Indianapolis driver) almost having a chance to win, to Sato big man move on the last lap. With Sato major move my friends from New York said, “It’s all or nothing baby!” Then; the ambassador of Indy Car Dario winning! The Race was full of excitement from start to the big bang finish! Mr. Servia that started so far back in the field, to ending up 4th place; he looked at me and said,” I just need one more lap, my car was so right.” Yes, my friends I did see 200 laps of fun on May 27, 2012.

The Race Action Should be Here?

I was taking my son to school this morning; and noticed that the Coca-Cola field was empty? The only thing in the field is Port-a-potty’s lining the field. There were a few vendors at the corner of 25th and Georgetown Rd. It was like a ghost town, in all reality where the fans in this time frame of the week are? Look the race is this Sunday on the 27th of May, right? I know that everyone has looked at the same thing as they drive down the road, haven’t they? I did notice the news last night through in a free advertising spot, which tickets are still in need for someone to buy them? Am I in the twilight zone? This is the Indianapolis 500 mile race, right? I am such a fan of this great race, that I have not even paid any attention to the emptiness of this great action so far this month. What happened to all the great partiers? What happened to all the great fans that line the streets with hope of seeing an Indy 500 driver? What happened to the great young fans that line the race track for an autograph of anyone that looks like something to do with anything with a race team. Look I am not bashing anything here. I am such a serious fan that I also invest in this great sport. I think that times have changed in so much that twitter and facebook has made us forget that children need to see this live. Drivers of this great sport are getting out there to sign autographs, but not around the race track, like when I was a child. Yes every driver has a commitment to expand the fan base of this great racing series that Izod has spent major money in this fact, of building the fans around this sport. What happened to corporate parties around the race track during the down time? Yes there have been a few parties here and there, but what about the fans that buy the product and support these great drivers, and this sport? (On another note) Ed Carpenter is an Indianapolis 500 race car driver born and raised in this city of Indianapolis, Indiana. He made this great race again this year. The mayor of Indianapolis should shut down a street and have a party just in his celebration of this fact. It’s the Super Bowl of racing and one of our own is in this race again. I am so proud of all the drivers in this 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race. But; Ed Carpenter is a really from here, not a transit to hopefully get a ride in some race car. Or; to get a special deal from the State of Indiana over a Chassie, because his race-shop is in Indianapolis. Hello he was born and raised here in Indianapolis, Indiana. The mayor should have an Ed Carpenter day this week, what happened on that? When the Colt’s do great, or the Pacers do something good, they have a big party downtown. Ed Carpenter is one more time one of the 33 drivers of this year’s Indianapolis 500 mile race, and we in Indianapolis are just saying, well ok good job Ed Carpenter. I am saying to everyone in this city, we have a real person from this city in this year’s Indianapolis 500. It’s time to open the zipline, open a bottle of Fuzzy’s bottles, with some tonic. Look let’s get a band in the streets and party for one of our one born and raised here in this great city. Just the trial of raising funds to be one of the drivers in this 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race is crazy in itself. I am proud of this great race car driver Ed Carpenter for doing just what he does, drive and he drives very well. Indianapolis, Indiana it’s time to get behind one of our own, Ed Carpenter! Yes let the parties start strong! From: Jim Gandolf

Indianapolis in May!

I am glad that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was able to fill the field of 33 drivers; for the Indianapolis 500 mile race on the 27th of this month. What a joy it will be seeing some of the best drivers in the world heading down the most famous race track in the world. I was nervous of the rumors of their not being 33 cars in the starting lineup this weekend. Sunday; will be the best race in a long time, why? I am sure that for this reason alone, Izod Indy car racing series has made sure this year will be full of excitement. The look in everyone eyes to get the last car in the starting field yesterday, was a wonderful site. I looked over at the first turn, and did get a great feeling as Ed Carpenter (The Indianapolis born, and still lives in Indianapolis, IN driver) got in the race this year. I noticed that the weather this year so far has been wonderful for the fans. I know that being a race fan is hard with all the parking rules and who, and what can go where within a race track. Then we were all blessed with a great race practice running of the 33 starting cars until Friday (which is carb day at the speedway). I am pleased with the results of the racing so far this year at the speedway. The 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race cars ready; I mean all 33 driver and hello cars with motors will start this year’s race! I had a very busy weekend; with Johnnie’s (my nephew) birthday party Friday night bash. Plus the Logstons great family get together on Saturday night! Which I might add some of the best country music (Live) I have heard in a long time! Then the news of the Sunday action at the speedway of the 33 cars and drivers in this year’s Indy 500. I have seen old friends at the speedway, and have made new friends at the race track this year. So far this has been a wonderful month. The 500 Festival Parade; is this coming Saturday, then the race is on Sunday the 27th at 12 noon eastern time, fans. I am so proud of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on getting everyone on the same page. What a way to have the excitement that went on with Pole day alone on last Saturday at the speedway. The fans had so much excitement over the last few minutes on pole day at the speedway. I was speechless; really what a great show. The race should even be better. The starting lineup can be read on just about any web site or newspaper. I just wanted to say to everyone that this has been a great month so far, at the greatest race track in the world the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! Jim Gandolf
