I was a young man and could not believe that I did get to ride in this pace car with two of my friends and the man that drove this fine pace car that did drive the pace car for the start of the race and all day during the race. I was 15 years old at the time. That was very exciting for me and my friends at the time. To take a pace car ride around the Indy 500 during a practice day in May 1980 was real fun. This year will be 100 years for the IMS. They need a birthday cake this year for the event.
