Police Officers need help too! by Jim Gandolf
I want to pray for our police officers here and throughout the USA. I have noticed that so many news reports of police officers are getting DUI’s throughout the land. I think that we as citizens of the USA can pray for the healing of these great humans that protect us from our own mistakes most of the time. Can you think for a minute about that time someone invades your home, and put you in a crazy emotional mess in life? The police officer is on a one track mind to protect you, even when that police officers life is at stake. I can’t even think about how stressful life is at being a police officer. Just imagine pulling over someone, over a traffic violation and finding a gun staring at you. These police officers have one thing in mind, and that is protecting everyone in their world. Yes; you have a good cop, and a bad cop stories everywhere, but if a person is in trouble it just doesn’t matter to these police officers because they are going to protect that person in need. I believe that being a police officer at any level has its own set of challenges. I know that in the end of all the madness; to have the structure we need in life is at times we need to protect our police officers. I don’t think that we need to be quick to judge a police officer in a serious situation as a DUI, but as a way to come up with a supportive roll for these police officers that truly lay down their life just for us and our families. We should have a form of discipline action for these police officers, but as a positive manor take that police officer by the hand and say what can we do as citizens to help you over your hard times police officer? The stress of every day you get up could be your last day, for real, and thinking about your husband or wife in a very tough situation during your work shift. What a police officer has to deal with every day; Drug attics, alcoholism, murder, child abuse, sex crimes, speeders, thieves, everyone lying to them, carjacking, being shot at, child stealers, husbands beating their wife, wife’s beating their husbands, pathologic liars, death threats, fellow officers getting killed in the line of work, protecting children at homes and at school, plus making sure the teenager is telling them the truth about something that just happened a minute ago. All of us are speeding in cars every day, and breaking mutable traffic violations, and to top it off we are causing more and more accidents by texting and driving. This my friends are what police officers are dealing with every day they are at work. We need to protect them as much as we can. So I am setting a vow to pray for their safety on all levels. What a tough job that our police officers have in protecting our communities every day. How about; just taking the time to say thank you, to a police officer when you see them, and pray for their world to be safe.
