Getting to the Decision Maker! By: Jim Gandolf

In racing; make sure you are dealing with the person in charge of the company that you are trying to get a sponsorship deal done. Don’t let preconceived gate keepers get in your way at all. Why? Because gate keepers do not make the decision about any business you are trying to achieve in the realm of raising funds for anything in racing.  I have spent a few good old American dollars in the quest of finding money for my favorite sport (Open Wheel Racing).  I have put everything on the line waiting for the mind set on all levels of trying to get the balance of money to change hands, but the main factor in the start of your sponsorship deal is talking to the main source to the money! Everyone has to be the big shot, and so on in any company transaction towards building your vision in sponsorship planning. Gate keepers will act like they know so much about the person in charge of everything (The decision maker) except in reality they really don’t at all. Everyone is in tiled to give their opinionated misguided actions as your trying to get to the main person. Wait a minute here; no one is allowed to express any sort of negative feelings to what you are doing to achieve your goals in closing, and getting to the top decision makers in your sponsorship plan, or any business plan you are involved in to make money! Never let someone represent your vision in your creation of a plan to raise funds in racing. I have failed many times in that area of doing business. Creating your passion, in what you have created (Business Plan or Sponsorship Package) should only be left to you explaining this vision, and everyone else should be quiet in that process. Failure is what drives success in the area of getting to the wrong person over and over, or even the wrong company that just can’t afford your plan or doesn’t see your profit structure yet at all. Gate keepers think they can do your job better than your own vision. Stay away from that action in all areas of business. If a gate keeper could do your job better that you? Why is the gate keepers are not involved with the main decision to beguine with? What are the gate keepers lacking? Let’s get into that subject; Gate keepers lack the strength to be a leader within their own structure of business, or they would be the decision maker. The second reason is because gate keepers might have been involved in making the wrong decision before and might act strong in front of you, but in reality will be a weak person to represent your vision for all areas of raising money for racing. The third reason you don’t want this gate keeper involved in getting to the top person for you; is because you are the best person creating that vision and profit structure in all areas of your plan. You just don’t need other opinions in the middle of this vision of raising funds in any areas of sponsorship package. Racing cost money period no matter how you look at this arena of sports. Activation of the profit structure for the company that will sponsor that wonderful race car is so exciting, so make sure you get all areas covered in that plan so you are not going back and forth between the decision maker, that decision maker just will not have the time to go back and forth with you at all. This decision make will not have the time to deal with you at all, because this person is running their business and what makes them tick, and not your area of entrust which is open wheel racing being the best racing on the planet! The decision maker will pass you off to another person in that company because you should have had your act together in all areas of this action plan. This is the off season which is the best time to be busy in all areas of raising money for your favorite sport period. Time to drive in profits for the sponsor, and the race team in all areas!
