Super Bowl LII in 2018 at the city of Indianapolis vs. The Indianapolis 500 Mile Race

I love the idea of both making the City of Indianapolis shine. I do not ever believe that the entertainment value for our great citizens is such a fantasy in all of its glory. Indianapolis was founded as the site for the new state capital in 1820 by an act of the Indiana General Assembly. Prior to its official founding, Indianapolis was a swampy area called the Fall Creek Settlement sparsely settled by fur traders. The first European American settler is generally believed to be George Pogue, who on March 2, 1819, settled in a double log cabin along the creek now called Pogue's Run. However, as early as 1822, it was argued that John Wesley McCormick was the first European American settler when he built a cabin along the White River in 1820 at the site of what is now the White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. I don’t even know if the first cabin settler even had a clue of the massive amount of cash flow that motorsports and football would generate. To even think about it even more on this action; in 1819, no one even knew what motorsports was at that time, or even football! The cabin settlers were probably only thinking about; “What are we going to eat for dinner?” I remember as a young boy growing up in this city of Indianapolis, and think how great the Indianapolis 500 was even back then. Then in the back of my mind saying, “I wish Indianapolis had an NFL Team!” Now we have a grand opportunity for the world to see again how the City of Indianapolis can shine through another sports event. This next Month of May 2014 is a grand opportunity to help the city's (Indianapolis) Capital Improvement Board shine while they make the final announcement for Super Bowl LII in 2018. Indianapolis leaders will need to raise an estimated $30 million to host the event, and the committee thinks they can do it with the help of pledges from past donors and new ones too. In the meantime the city of Indianapolis needs to prepare for its first ever Indianapolis Grand Prix; on May 10th 2014, which hello is the main reason that the city of Indianapolis is the most famous for (Racing Capitol of the World). The Indianapolis 500 Mile race is on the 25th of May 2014. I believe the city and state leaders have their hands full at this time to go into this adventure. I think with the city having another Super Bowl here would be absolutely grand on all scales of the State of Indiana, and the City of Indianapolis. I also believe that having the first Indianapolis Grand Prix is a grand way to have the City of Indianapolis have each turn sponsored to the max with each Township represented and their community partnership with the citizens of Marion County which is really Indianapolis, Indiana today. I remember as a young man standing next to a yellow shirt (Security person at IMS) as I was walking into a gate at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on opening day saying, “Hello citizens of this great state, it is time for our residents to be hospitable to the world, have a great day!” I will never forget that excitement as I was listening many years ago. Opening day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is exciting in itself. Jim Gandolf
